NOTES ON INFORMAL MEETING OF THE FRIENDS OF WANDLE PARK
HELD IN THE CAFÉ ON SUNDAY 2nd AUGUST 2015
(FOWP informal meeting 2 Aug 2015 – copy in Word)
Although this meeting was ‘informal’ it was agreed that notes would be circulated to the Friends, as so many dates and events were listed, as follows:-
6.8.15 11a.m in the Rose Garden. George and Simon will be painting 64 paving stones in tasteful, muted colours, e.g moss green and cream in masonery paint to make a giant chess board, so we can set up the giant chess pieces at weekends and whenever required. Currently the pieces are stored in the Café changing room but we could look at nearby storage alternatives if needed. Any other volunteers are very welcome to come along this Thursday to help. We can always find a few extra brushes!
13.9.15 12 noon in the Café, AGM of The Friends of Wandle Park. The annual £1 subs will be collected for those who have not paid yet and back-dated voluntary donations of £1 will be accepted for any of us who did not pay last year. George will circulate an Agenda, including a nomination form for any wishing to stand, or re-stand, for Committee positions. Any nominations from Committee members who failed to attend any meetings in the last year or to give Apologies will not be accepted, as we need an active Committee.
Sometime in September we are asked to host an ‘at home’ for “The Living Wandle Partnership” to show people from voluntary groups further up the river around Wandle Park, explain the history of the park, the activities that now take place and any special features of our established and also our rapidly developing eco-system. The date when they fit this into their calendar of events will be circulated for any Friends who’d like to be there.
Simon agreed to head up a river walk from the Café to Carshalton. The original date fixed was 27.9.15 but Simon now has another important commitment then, so we need to alter this please to Sunday 4th October 2015 starting at 12 noon. This can substitute for our usual informal meeting as we can talk and walk!
It was agreed that The Green Day would be based in the Park in 2016. Andrew (Dickinson) has further details and the date will be 11.6.16
Cathy Aitchison mentioned there is a clean up happening on 22.8.15 in Church Alley. Contact Cathy on cathy.aitchison@bt internet.com for the start time if you’d like to help.
